Szecesszió World Day free walk: Hungarian Ede walk
If you're unsure about the language or anything else regarding the event, please contact the event organizer for confirmation.
Hungarian Ede was only 35 years old when he ended his life with his own hand, and his many promising architect career was buried with him. His buildings, which were completed in Szeged for only eight creative years, are largely determined by the city image.
In 1907 the construction of the Reök Palace gained such a great reputation for him that he received orders. The building, considered his main work, is defined by the literature as the Hungarian architectural culmination of the Floral Art Nouveau, which is exceptional in the European context. But what is beyond the Reök Palace? Which buildings are the main stages of the Hungarian Ede career? And where can we find those that have been stripped of their ornaments and hardly remind us of their original form?
The walk was worked out and led by: Edit Csizmadia
