Lower City in Literature - Cultural Walk
If you're unsure about the language or anything else regarding the event, please contact the event organizer for confirmation.
Alsóváros Szeged was one of the most archaic and closed settlements for many centuries. Because of the Franciscans living here from the Middle Ages, this part of the town was also called Jáborváros, and because of the pepper makers it was called Paprikaváros. According to István Tömörkény, for the people of downtown it was only until the Franciscan church, and they refused to go any further and to know who lives here. During the walk we visit the cultical places of Lajos Kálmány, as well as the short stories of István Tömörkény and Mihály Cserzy, as well as the local anecdotes, to see how the people of Lower City lived at the turn of the century.
Price of the walk: 1800 HUF/person
The program can be attended by prior check-in. Please indicate your intention to participate by e-mail or telephone at least one day before the day of the walk.
